Bamboo Poles

Bamboo poles are simply the dried out and treated or boiled bamboo plant. There is very little that has to be done to get bamboo into a useful building material. Boiling or treating the wood removes the starch which bugs love thus preventing infestations. It also prevents wood rot and fungus.

Bamboo poles vary in length and thickness. A common size is eight feet tall and one inch in diameter at the base. They can be found in lengths up to twenty feet and thicknesses of over four inches. They are sturdy and strong, easily able to support the weight of a person when built correctly.

Bamboo poles are typically sold in groups of 15-30 in a bundle. Anything longer than 8 feet has to be shipped with freight making it more expensive. They can be attached together in a number of different ways using materials such as twine, wire, nails or glue. They can be fashioned into many different useful creations such as supports for tomatoes and other plants as well as for fences.
