Bamboo Art

There are many different types and styles of bamboo art. It can be simply artwork made from bamboo such as fashionable furniture, sculpture, wood cuttings, burnings and other forms. It can also be live bamboo that is fashioned into different shapes through grafting and spinning it slowly while it is growing.

Other types of bamboo art use bamboo as the subject matter or theme of the painting. It is commonly depicted in Asian tapestries in many different forms and styles. They are typically painted with black ink but colors are commonly used as well. The material is a smooth rice paper and often the backing is a bamboo or silk patterned textile.

Bamboo art is very common in Asian cultures and is gaining popularity in the West as well. It is very commonly used as a building material even in modern conceptual and sculptural pieces. It is such as valuable material that is firmly rooted into the Asian culture and is part of many of their myths.
